The back bulbs add some energy to the plant, but once severed, won't benefit from just being placed back into the same pot. You would just have to disturb the plant(s) again as new growth fills up the pot, extending the recovery period before they will be ready to bloom again. It will take time for new growth to be produced and become strong enough to be productive. The older bulbs might produce additional strikes (green growth) though, and help reestablish the plants quicker. The dried stems should be removed from the older back bulbs, to improve the appearance of the plant and to help prevent pest and disease issues. Then, patience required.

Fresh bark always dries out much quicker than degraded bark. Just water more frequently until the bark begins to hold water for a greater length of time.
