Fancy canna usually do not have fancy progeny. Tropicanna very rarely produces seed. Another striped leaved canna, Pink Sunburst, often produces viable seed but the progeny are not striped because Pink Sunburst is a chimera. In my experience, about half the progeny have solid green and half have solid red leaves, with flowers identical to that of the parent. I have some Pink Sunburst seeds, naturally dropped several years ago, germinating in the ground right now.
