Yes, you're correct. Some of the ones that I get seed from are Intrigue, the different Pfizers (sp), Journey's End, the indicas, and several unknown named kinds. Some that you won't get seed from are Tropicanna, Christ's Light, Tropicanna Gold, etc.

Add to that Yellow King Humbert...their seeds are sterile.

This is my 3rd year at growing Canna, and the 1st year that I can remember them having seed pods. My question: Should I leave the seed pods on the plants or cut them off? If I leave them on, will that stop the rizones (sp?) from multiplying? Any advice will be appreciated.

The plant has to expend energy to form seeds, so in theory at least, removing the pods as soon as they begin to develop would prompt the plant to put the energy no longer needed for making seeds into making more flowers.

Once the pods are mature, it would make no difference at all whether they are removed or not because the plant is no longer providing any nourishment to them at that time. That's why the capsules turn brown.

In either case, the rhizome keeps developing continuously as long as its environmental needs are met.

What about Cleopatra? Mine produces seeds, are they viable or are they also sterile?

I saw seeds online in China I believe and Thailand for supposed Cleopatra...I was interested but then I heard they were sterile...It would be nice if they would create a cultivar that can produce viable seed...
