Horn is virus ridden. If you can find a retailer that sources from San Marcos, they will also likely be virus free.

For now, I'm only growing species type that I can grow from seed in order to minimize the chance of virus infestation.

I've bought some from Karchesky and Harris, traded other growers for some. After I get my collection re-built, I'll offer seeds for trade and postage.

Some web sites sell seeds. Keep in mind two things,, canna seeds are a bit of work to get going. They must be scratched, to notch the outer shell.

Also, some won't grow true from seed, so those plants won't be available to you. I grow most of mine from seed. It's a lot of fun and the price is right, free.

In my case I'm not too particular about what I get. Hey,, I like suprises and I never met a canna I didn't like. So some time during the year I find some lonely roadside canna, on public property and gather a handfull or two of seed.

Now with that, there are plenty of people who want to swap seeds for free right here in the seed/exhange forum.
