I get a lot of my edibles from a co in the mountains of VA called edible landscaping. They are on the web, and close enough to make a 1/2 day roadtrip if you want. Also, i've ordered edibles from the pacific northwest nurseries of one green world, raintree and burnt ridge with success, but a lot of the trees will be bareroot and you have to be careful picking varieties suited for us.

Locally, the farmer's market has vendors that carry a number of plants, as do some of the local nurseries. You won't get as much selection at those, but you do get the advantage of handpicking what you want. I know Logan's (center of town) carries fruit, as does fairview garden center (holly springs rd, south west). Broadwell's and or old stage(across the rd) carries blueberries and a couple varieties of most fruit trees and are probably the cheapest source if you're willing to a take a little drive to get them. Those 2 nurseries are about 15-20 miles south of raleigh straight down old stage rd in garner, past 10-10, 42 and 210.

I got my blueberries from Finch nursery...or at least the 4H/Extension sale did. The shrubs are excellent, and the nursery sells perfect varieties to grow in the NC Piedmont (and throughout the Carolinas, really), and they have different ages depending upon how much you want to spend vs. how soon you want fruit.

I also bought some apple trees from my Extension office and 4H sale (the Alamance branch). I think I'm correct that most Extension offices do these sorts of sales, and you can always be sure you're getting a good product from them. Plus, you support gardening in the Carolinas that way! They also sell grapes, strawberries, pears, peaches, and nectarines (and maybe more, I forget!). Something to consider when purchasing...they usually sell the berries in the spring, trees in the fall.
