I am a Master Gardener in Wake County. Up until now, they had a new class every other year. With a new director in place, and so many interested, they decided to start new classes every year. The new one starts in Sept. '09 but be sure to call now to get your name on the list.
(919) 250-1084 The classes fill up fast. Last year they had twice as many applications as spaces. Up until this year, the classes were all taught by one person but with the director's retirment, changes were made and they now use a lot of NC State professors/professionals for the subject they each know best. The class gets the best from the best. There are test each week BUT the test are open book after the lecture each week on that subject, and is to be turned in the following week. Students get together/telephone to compare answers. This is encouraged. ALL the answers are in the chapter being studied. A huge notebook is provided in the begining. You will love the class and will learn so much. Don't worry about your knowledge of gardening.

I am just finishing this year's MG class and I just wanted to say that it was WONDERFUL! The guest lecturers were all very knowledgeable and very good speakers. Even topics that I had not thought I would find interesting turned out to be really fascinating because the speakers were so enthusiastic about their topics. It is going to take some time for all that information to find a brain cell to settle down in, but I have definitely enjoyed it all.
