I put my chysalids in the garage to overwinter. Spray them with water once a month. That's all you need to do. You can bring them in now.

I left my only bst chrysalid outside on my deck in it's cage all winter last year. We did have a milder than usual winter, but also had stretch of nasty wind chill. My intention was to bring it into the garage over the winter, but the thing went and pupated on the wood at the top of the cage. Being it was my first and only bst, I left it alone and figured I'd let mother nature decide it's fate. It pupated in September and eclosed in June, I believe, perfectly healthy. This year I have 5; 4 on the screen & wood and 1 on the lip of the pot. They'll all remain outside on the deck. I had issues with some flying pest that either killed one chrysalid or pupated along with the caterpillar then hatched themselves out of it. It was ugly, and still, there's one or more on one or more of the remaining chrysalids. I don't know what they are, but I'm trying to keep on top of them by killing whatever ones show up.

Last winter I left them outside, but I have 20 this year and all are in a screened in cage. One of my cages already got messed up this year when brand new, so I don't want my 2nd one to get messed up being out there. Thanks!
