I've grown it once because the tag said it was perennial (at bb's), but it didn't last any longer than the typical bi's. Not sure if it bloomed- don't recall, and since i grew it with purpureus, it would have been a little hard to tell. I really like D. ferruguinea- but again, it's not really perennial for me.

I think I've seen pics of D. ferruguinea in the Thompson and Morgan catalog but can't recall off the top of my head how that one looks. I need to look it up. I love strawberry foxglove and D. ambigua too. I should have one strawberry foxglove if it overwintered -- in fact it should be big enough to divide -- but need to replace the yellow one.

I grew that one or something similar for a few years. It wasn't as tall as my regular foxgloves so it kinda got lost mixed in with them. I'll look to see if it came back after last summers drought, but I imagine that it will be reduced by the hot and dry.

I did like the flowers even though they were more wildflower-y and subtle.

One of the seed packets I bought this winter was for variegated Digitalis purpurea. I haven't sown them yet.
