Yes, high 30's to low 40's is fine. FYI mine are put in zip lock style bags and then go in the bottom of the fridge. Just check them now and then for fungus. I use Safer brand fungicide if needed. Actually I hit them with a spurt prior to bagging them.

They need to be outside or in a cool south facing window sill (without the death cube)and if they don't get their dormancy they may not live through winter and most certainly will not survive the next growing season. Judging from the pictures on the other post they are starving for light. Mine have just gone dormant within the last few days and will be going in the frige soon. My S. purpurea will be staying outside this year. Depending on your location you may be able to leave both outside.

i live in salt lake UT
the winters are brutal here.
i dont think they'll survive the winter
i'll try the fridge idea.
