I would extend the tiles to the end of the counter top.

I would also add a straight row of the 4x4s between the cab and the window so that the tile rises above the cabinet there. Top it with a piece of bullnose. Same on the splash to left of cab. Have it rise to same height, topped by bullnose.

I agree. Extend to the edge of the countertop and the addition of the row of 4X4 with bullnose will give a finished look.

Extend only to the natural line where the cabinet ends (not to the end of the counter) and finish that vertical edge with the liner. Just finish the top where you have it between cabinet and window with the liner (bullnose would be great but I'm assuming that you don't have one) . You will have a cleaner look. Other option is to go all the way up the wall around the window if it's "doable". Of course you would still use the cabinet line for height at the extensions. Have fun.

I would take it to the end of the counter top. I agree that it needs a more finished look at the top by either a row of straight 4x4's ( nice suggestion Carolyn) or by capping it with the liner ( nice one dragonfly.) l thought of doing the liner as well, the creamy yellow looks great with the wall color.

So, what you can take away from all these comments, I believe, is that you have various options open to you. There is no exact right and wrong. It's a personal decision.

I would have originally said to keep it as it is, but after reading, i like the idea of adding a bullnose to the top and making it extend a little higher than the cabinet. Either option will look great!

Yes you must do backsplash this way. Perhaps balance space with a small piece of art on each side.

Post is from 2012. Hope they finished the backsplash by now.
