Spiral shaping of a tree?

16 years ago

I need to cut back two trees as they have caused rot to my porch railings which I am just replacing. I think they may be a type of Cyprus. I have seen some cut into a spiral shape and would love to know how to do this. I can't find anything online other than artificial trees. Has anyone done this successfully?
