Just curious but can't you start your own sweet potatoes by planting eyes or ends like with regular potatoes?

I don't know about planting tubers or eyes--they don't offer them that way in the catalogues I don't think, only slips. When I used to do them I started the vines by suspending a tuber in water and cut off sections that had both vines and roots and planted them. Worked for me. He has always bought all the plants (what I did not give him) for his garden. Myself, I even started my own onions from seed this year making me 100% seed sourced. 45 this morning here close to the track.

I see them at Lowes every time I go.
