Clematis Trellis Suggestions

I recently purchased Clematis lanuginosa 'Candida'. I am going to plant it next to my garage. My question is, what kind of trellis do I need to purchase? The side of my garage is concrete foundation for the first couple of feet and then older brick for the next 6' or so. Is it possible that it would just grow up the side of the garage without a trellis? If not, what is better, wood, rod iron, etc? My house is a 60+ year old cape cod.

Also, does anyone have any tips for this kind of Clematis? I've never grown any before.

A clematis will not climb up a wall without some kind of support around which it can wrap leaf tendrils, so you will need to purchase or make a trellis.
