Number 2 is Spirea a small bush that comes in lots of colors, both the leaves and the blossoms. Most likely Spirea japonica.

Number 1 looks kinda like a Clarkia but the leaves and height look different than any that I have grown in the past. Maybe a Loosestrife - Purple Loosestrife, its been years since I've grown it so I barely remember the leaves or the flowers.

Someone will know. It sure is pretty.

The leaf form and the flower shape on the first one looks like some type of cuphea to me. I've only had the orangish "cigar" or "candy corn" plants but they have similar characteristics. That and the spirea are very pretty!

trianglejohn is right that Plant Number Two is a type of spirea. I think it is 'Anthony Waterer' spirea, a heritage, or vintage, form that has been grown for many generations and has recently experienced an upsurge in gardening popularity. It's compact, tidy, and blooms late, thus escaping frost damage to its flowers.

I don't recognize Plant Number One, but it looks as though it must have trumpet-, funnel-form, or tubular flowers. It's a pretty plant, with a color that goes well with the 'Anthony Waterer' spirea.

the 1st one is in a neighbors yard covering her utiity stuff & thought it was so pretty. the second one my MIL gave me from her old yard in ny.she bought it so long ago & didnt remember what it was.

it doesn't look like loosetrife to me, but if it is, be aware that it's considered highly, highly invasive. Especially bad if you live anywher near a streams or waterway that can lead to wetlands- it can take over. It's banned in a bunch of states b/c of that. It is beautiful, but ...

Plant #1 could also be some sort of narrow leaved Four O'clock (Mirabilis). Most gardeners grow Mirabilis jalapa but there a many more - some of the ones native to the Southwest are spectacular and often bloom in that color.
