If you read about brugmansias at the PDN website, the ones there are hardy in zones 7b to 10. What is special about the ones Tony carries is that they are more WINTER hardy than other brugs, so apparently SC weather should be brugmansia heaven.

I'm awaiting an order from PDN but it doesn't include any Brugs. The Cypress and SR came from FL which should mean they are well acclimated to heat and humidity but one never knows until one tries! This is my first purchase from PDN. Have you been happy with your plants purchased from there?

Yes, I love PDN plants, but then again I worked there. I usually buy at the open houses, but they are famous for their packing quality. What did you order from there? I just bought an Abutilon Orange Hot Lava as a gift for a friend.

OK, I had to go to the catalog and look up your plant. Wow, it looks similar to my gloxinia (Sinningia Sellovii)--little bud type flowers that dangle from the stems. I bought it at a local nursery about 3 years ago because I loved the flowers and the texture of the foliage. It has been a true survivor, too!
I ordered 3 coneflowers--another passion--and a Colocasia affinis Jenningsii. I stumbled onto their website one day and ordered a catalog. They offer a lot of variety and some really unusual plants. I wish I lived closer. I would have loved to go to the open house this weekend. I bet you have a garden full of fabulous plants!

Full sun works ok but they wilt in the heat of the day. If you are going to be walking around them during the afternoon you might want to grow them in part sun. If you will only be viewing them before and after work then it should be no problem. The wilting is just a defense mechanism to deal with high temps it doesn't mean they need watering. They like water but they don't like soggy soil.

How often do you fertilize? I've been told to fertilize every week and to rotate what I feed. Does this work for you?
