They are beautiful .. I just wish that I could leave Everything alone and that they would grow as well! lol

How do you get it so bushy then??? Even though I pinch and prune, they all still look like one stemmed sticks mostly! And, definitely NOT bushy! Ugh!
How old is that one???
Mine are only 2nd and 3rd years. And, I'm still waiting for the leaping year! :)

I don't know why they are so bushy.

I bought them as 'small' plantings two years ago and put them around my outdoor light post which gets a lot of sun.

I just left them alone and that is how they grew.

I never pinch or prune them, I just let them grow.

Over the winter time they 'go away' and look terrible .. just an ugly dark, dead looking vine but .. within a week of summer sun .. they look like this! 8)

Hmmm... Maybe I should try leaving mine alone for a year and see what happens.

I left mine for years and they did not perform at all, not even close to what those beauties look like. For me, they do much much better pinched and pruned.

I also wish that it were true about everything growing so well.

I am having problems with a japanese maple right now and I have a dogwood tree that is large and .. "Always Green" and will never bloom.(well, once about two years ago, it had three of them .. 'blooms') lol

Beautiful clematis. What kind are they?

Maybe it's a group 1 clem? Blooms on old wood? That may explain it. What is the clem called?

Your gonna hate this but .. I don't have a clue as to what kinds of clematis these are. (there are two different ones)

I have been thinking back to when I purchased these at Costco and I am 'almost' certain that these were called 'Cosmos'?

Is that a valid 'type'?

Looks Like clematis "Guernsey Cream" & "Asao" but can't give a definitive answer without a close up pic...Jeanne

Just wanted to bump this up for jeanne_texas.

I have been looking but I still don't know what these are called.

Since I am not what you'd call a strict clematis grower/collector .. a lot of them look alike to me.

Is that true for any of you other folks?
