I have one that is just barely starting to get leaf buds. But my other 9 are growing like gang busters. I would wait a while. I had one last year die back completely a few weeks after planting last summer. I thought I was going to have to replace this year. But to my suprise it came back up. It is now about 3 feet tall. Don't give up on it quite yet.

Yes, I would exercise patience :-) From time to time, relatively newly planted clematis can take awhile to get settled and get moving. I've had several I thought were gonners only to appear quite late in the season. The next year they were great.

I also experienced some coming up much later than others. I'm still waiting on one, while I have others blooming.

Thanks for the reassurance/advice. Patience is not something I do well, unfortunately, but I will try hard!

Clematis are not instant gratification plants, they do require patience as it takes at least three years for them to reach full potential.
