Beautiful! It looks like verbena bonariensis is the big favorite this year. The Monarchs as well as the Goldfinches are having a great time on my verbena, too.

I'm thinking back to when I bought my first cluster of verbena b. at the Farmers Market and I know it preceeded the arrival of my oldest cat.
She's 17 this year.
At any rate, it's still persisting in my other yard in areas that don't get mown down.
So, anyone who buys it should be aware of how well it reseeds. Wonderful plant and I took some to my present gardens.

Lovely, Blueangel! We've had tons of them around here this year, too.

We don't seem to attract many butterflies despite all my plantings. However, I've got a regular crew of dragonflies,which I love and named my house after.
They are my first line of defense against asian tiger mosquitoes and they are fascinating to watch their aerial acrobatics.

Do you have flat topped flowers like Zinnia, Tithonia, Marigolds, Coneflower, etc.? Those are what butterflies like to lite on. Keep looking, can't imagine them not visiting your yard. I am a fan of dragonflies too.
