navels are "commercially seedless" which means no more than a few numbers of under developed seeds.

your picture looks like under developed seeds which may or not germinate, and if they did germinate would take quite a few years to bear fruit. best to just spend $20-40 and get a grafted tree.

I never got any seeds from a navel orange of any sort. Until 2 days ago, I got two... from one navel orange (yes, it was a navel orange; came out of a bag of navel oranges, looked and tasted exactly like them, exactly the same navel orange morphology, etc). The seeds are slightly undersized, to my reckoning, but only slightly.

I'm taking a shot at germinating them.

I believe vestigial seeds, or seed remnants, are unable to sprout.

Placing them in water will reveal if any have embryos large enough to sink. The heaviest may be able to germinate. The floating seeds may consist of little more than empty seed coats. The float test is less useful from over mature desiccated fruit. I had a batch of seeds out of such fruits and all floated. Eventually most germinated after a prolonged waiting period, during which they soaked up water.

I think they are seedless oranges 🍊 I got similar seeds I think it's such a sad thing we can't save seeds like we use to unless it's from Mexico
