New purchases

Yikes...have never bought so many clems so early in the season!

Private nursery: Rebecca, Barbara Harrington

Menards: Mme Julia Correvon, Lincoln Star

Home Depot: Gypsy Queen, Sunset, Guernsey Cream

Lowes: None..I already have all their varieties..but will be watching for a new shipment.

And my local HyVee grocery store does not have their clems in yet, always find some new ones there. Thought I had filled most available space in our yard last year, will need to be creative...again.

Anyone have experience with Lincoln Star? I don't know much about that one.

Did have some frost damage over the weekend so will be doing some trimming when it warms up.

Good selection. So far I haven't found much that I don't already have except Piilu and Vino. Our Home Depot and Menards does not have their clematis in yet, but Menards is getting in a big shipment on Thursday. Steins has a nice selection of clematis, but so over-priced I won't buy on principle.

2 more Prince Charles (I am so impressed with the one I have) and 2 Pearl d' Azur both from ebay- Birdsong Farm. (has bought other sellers clematis via ebay with mixed success.) African Girl from Home Depot.
Its hard to find ones I don't already have, selling locally. Mail order is a gamble, I need better resources.
Steins IS expensive! Holy COW!

There are a lot of good mail order places for clematis. We don't need Steins for clematis. :)

As I ended last season with almost 50 clems, I did not expect to find many more varieties & thought I would have to resort to mail order. Wrong! In addition to my original post, I have purchased the following locally. CVS:Justa & Etoile Violette (4" pots); HD:Sylvia Denny; Nursery: Bijou, Filigree, Arabella, Betty Corning (small pots).
Visited DD in Olathe KS, we plant shopped! HyVee:Victor Hugo,Rooguchi; WalMart:integrifolia(species); HD/Lowes:Blue Light, Climador'Konigskind',Miniseelik. Nursery:Tie Dye (huge pot)just had to splurge on this one.
Left behind: Reiman, Blue Angel, Perrin's Pride & many pinks. Had to quit as I'm running out of space. Bought 2 new obelisks, need more.

The variety available has only happened in the past few years. Not sure why, maybe increased competition as we have many more plant vendors now. Also, much more interest in gardening, more garden tours as fund-raisers in our communities, forums like this one educating potential customers/gardeners. Whatever it is, I am pleased to see it happening.
