nr 1: havent got a clue!

nr 2: Clematis viticella 'Madame Julia Correvon' type 3 pruning (cut everything 1 feet above ground before growth starts early spring).

nr 3: Clematis "The President" type 2 pruning ...shape your plants to the desired shape after the first bloom cycle).

Agree with cupshaped Roses about 2 and 3 as I have both in the garden and just love the Madame. Why is it that the #1 pictures are always so difficult? LOL Again, hard to tell the real color of the sepals. The anthers either look pinkish-red or a purplish red. Your best bet is going to be someone who has it.

The pics I looked at of the "madame" are close, but my plant has flowers with only 4 petals, the ones I saw have 6. Is it still the same? I did think it was a viticella. They are also not a red red but sort of a claret. here is another pic of a bloom, the color is very close-
{{gwi:591342}} The foliage has sort of small leaves, where my others have the larger leaves.
As to number 1, the color in the photo is almost spot on, the anthers are a pinkish color.

Wackyweeder - I can help you identify anything, but I love how the anthers look as if they have a hold of the insect in the third photo.

Wacky, my Julia Correvon has flowers that have either 4 or 5 sepals per flower. COTW shows it having 4, 5 or 6 if you look at all the pictures they have posted. Lesson here--don't use number of sepals to id clematis.

Oops forgot to say in either post, that if clematis number 1 responds to being treated as a type III, then treat it as such. No need to know the identity of it other than to satisfy your curiosity.

Also love your M. Julia Correvon! I can get her, can't I, as she is of viticella parentage and that is my new concentration until I get the hang of growing these lovely vines.

Sue, found it at a local nursery that specializes in hellebores. It was originally painted gold but as the paint faded, it sponge painted it in various shades of green to similate verdigris. I have lots of copper in the garden and add whatever simulations I can add.

Sue, my partner and I of 20+ years live in Kernersville, NC hence the name--definitely "dudeds". I changed my zonal info last year when Ivillage bought out Gardenweb and thought that they had the rights to everything anyone posted on GW hence the name referring to George Orwell and his book '1984'.
