Aside from Alocacias, EE´s are not winter hardy.

I haven't grown 'tea cup', but Colocasias 'Black Magic', 'Antiquorum Illustris', fallax, and esculenta have wintered over successfully in the ground here for at least seven years, along with Alocasia 'Calodora'. Good drainage in winter and a fluffy mulch are a good idea, and I do save a runner or two in a small pot for "insurance" purposes, but these usually end up being donated to plant sales in spring, once I'm sure the original plants are returning.

I have colocasia esculenta fontanesii. I cut mine back after the first frost, then piled a mountain of mulch on top. Came through just fine, but mine are on the east side of my house in a rather protected area...and, I thought we had a mild winter last year.

Tea Cup sounds so cute, I'll have to go look it up!
