Unfortunately, I will not get to see the home before we move in (too far away from current location). The home was built for someone else who lost funding right before closing, so we were able to get a good deal on it. The specs say that the entire home (walls and ceilings are painted in Monarch Santa Fe (MS-23014) in Flat. The trim is an off-white. The tiles are The Cliffs Beige (which I googled and found the ones that look like the pics I have). My dilemma is that I am looking to add color to rooms before we move in because we have 4 boys and I homeschool and I know once we get belongings unpacked and school started ~ it will be really hard to do. I am looking to paint the boys' rooms upstairs in BM Winter Lake and BM Mt. Rainier Gray. We are going to be using an upstairs media room as a play room for now and I am looking at BM Cream Silk for that room. We also have a bonus room upstairs that I will be using for a school room and am looking at greens for that room (my oldest son picked out BM's Dill Pickle ~ while I had considered BM's Croquet). I have attached pics of our LR rug and sofa cushions ~ we'll probably be sticking with more beige/wheat tones for now with it matching our furniture. In addition, I added 2 more pics of the new house. That still leaves me with the DR ~ our china is Lenox Federal Cobalt and our furniture is black. From the rug I considered painting the DR a green or blue or maroonish red; even if it is only one accent wall (either the wall facing the front of home/windows or the wall that you see when you walk in the front door and turn to see DR.) Any suggestions? :) Thank you, Jenny

You could save some space and make a built in entertainment/shelving unit to hide the door. That would free up some furniture space

I like the paint color and think it's a nice backdrop for the fun colors. I also saw a blog post where fabric paint was used to add coordinating touches to an existing rug. It looked great! Please don't be upset about the separate space posts. I also didn't realize you were in Manhattan until you mentioned it. It makes sense for them to share. I live in the Midwest, and like much of the country, we aren't used to thinking about making the most of every square foot. It truly was more of a misunderstanding of your circumstances than judgement. Enjoy every minute with those kiddos and just have fun with the decor!

Thank you for your response. Bad, dark paneling on all the walls so that would push me to black paint? Ah, maybe I will just go with a regular t,v, stand. That one gets uglier every time I look at it again. I don't think I could joyfully spend money on it (plus it only has that lonely little log). I do appreciate your thoughts on it.
