blondiesc, if a clematis is available, when you click on the picture (or the space where a picture would be), there should be a "buy" button. If you're not getting a button for any of them, maybe try refreshing your computer cache, or using a different browser?

I've been organizing the order myself, and the shipping is more than the cost of the clematis...is this right? I've never had such high shipping before from other vendors.

Robert - I found the same thing. Started out with a huge order, then found shipping to be almost as much as the plants themselves. I cancelled the order, then thought about it overnight. I ended up with 4 plants, but the shipping was only $2 less than the cost for the plants, at least to my zone. I rationalized it by figuring that that meant I essentially paid full price, but got free shipping. (Must have been really tired that day). I only chose plants I don't think I have seen elsewhere.

I figured they only have clems left that allow you to buy them not every one they show, if you look through you will see which ones are ending in your shopping cart.
I only bought from Donahue clems before on steady basis but they do not carry many varieties Chalk Hill does so I ended up ordering 10 clems that I do not think I will find easily elsewhere.
I love Donahue clems while they small their root system is well developed and I do replant them in bigger pots and plant out next year- have beauty ones.
Hopefully CH will send nice sized ones since they are going to be sending them late summer.
I lost tag of this one but it gave me weeks of beautiful show this spring.

Ophelia, I pretty much did the same thing. Plus, I figured if I drove to every nursery just trying to find Bourbon, I would have burned plenty of gas doing so. Each plant figured out to be $14-15 which I think is reasonable.

If you check out the info on the Chalk Hill site, you will see that there is econonmy in size. The cost of shipping two plants is about the same as shipping one and the cost of shipping four is about the same as shipping three. Also realize that if you live on the east coast, you will have far higher shipping charges than if you are in the midwest or on the west coast. I have found this to be true when ordering from Joy Creek.

The way to look at it is that you are getting the clematis at a big discount and if the plants were not discounted, you would be paying even more for the same plants. Shipping costs are shipping costs and with the big runup in gas charges, can you really complain about the shipping costs?

Thank you for compliments! While it does look like CdB it is one of the earliest/ not counting group 1 alpina and macropetalas which I've grown from seeds/ blooming clems for me, late May for zone 5 and I have been treating it as type 2, light pruning to no pruning.
