No probem mixing wood. But as you add new pieces, continue to bring in different woods. Don't go buy a "set" because then your other pieces will look odd. The goal is to be deliberate - I Ithink they call it eclectic. You might benefit from a light colored wood so that your room doesn't look heavy. Also, look for a piece in an exocitc wood (zebra wood, buerl wood, etc.) admaybe a piece of painted wood.

Thanks so much. I actually have a chair that is a light wood. It's just a small chair that was my great grandmothers and I love it. I was trying to think where I could put it.
