The HOA board where I live is proposing painting the houses' exteriors this fall. I have many clems climbing trellises next to the walls. Which is the lesser of two evils: hard-prune them all before the painters arrive in order to minimize the damage from being stepped on, etc., or leave them alone and watch the painters like a hawk while they're working?
