wren, I think that the vendor that many of us were using, as it was going out of business, has finished. That said, I wanted to tell you that your post makes me have heart. I too have made "newbie" mistakes since 2002. I finally have the right things and have given away or killed a ton of plants. I was feeling like the only one till I saw your post. I too have switched to clems and roses and sedums...they seem to like me best !

Wrengarden, I just purchased my first clematis this year (21 clems). I don't know that I'd call these my favorite, but these are the online clematis vendors I'm familiar with. Some are pricier than others, but I'll pay a little extra $ for a clematis that I really, really want.

I'm fairly new to the garden scene, still a novice, but one online vendor/catalog I particularly like is Bluestone Perennials. Great catalog with pics, and basic info helpful for newbies. They also sell some clematis, and have a spring and fall sale each year with everything 50% off, and all plants are sold with a lifetime guarantee. I got my Madame Julia Correvon from them on sale for $4.97 (a small pot, but healthy nonetheless).

Trailrunner, Wow if Roses, and Clems like you , then you must being doing well. I will be putting in Daylilies in the spring.The range of colors, patterns, shapes and sizes are amazing.You should tour the Daylily forum, they post many pictures to drouoolll over. I have been pouring over the Daylily nursery sites for weeks trying to get together a list of 20. Narrowing it down is painful but I have just so much room. Healthy Bloom to you!
