Clematis ID

I bought this clematis last year and it came without a tag or flowers at the time. I just found a picture of it and I need someone to ID it for me :) It's a early small flowering type.

It's the white one behind the pink one...

Most probably one of the early LFH but I am not really into them so can't help with the ID. Sorry!

My first thought was Huldine, but thought it flowered quite a bit later than Asao, but COTW has it as an early flowering group member.

My Huldine is a lot younger than Asao, so that might be the difference.

My Huldine blooms much later than Asao, but then again clematis have their own minds and often bloom when least expected. Did you notice if the white flowers have a pinkish coloration down the backside ribs of the sepals? This is a telling characteristic of Huldine.

No pink color in this one. It's all white. I'm trying to remember when it bloomed, I should have wrote it down but I know it flowered after my macropetala bluebird, so it was close to early May and it lasted well into June. The flowers are about 2 inches across.

This is the 3rd one I've bought without a tag and the only one to flower!! I can't resist buying them if they are marked down and looking healthy just because they are "unknown" It's like a Christmas present when I finally figure out ;)

One of my others from 2 years ago just put out a bud!! I'm very excited to see what color it turns out to be!! I'm sure I will have to post it on here because I won't be able to place it.

I'm wondering if it might be Wada's Primrose. That one blooms earlyish for me (before the Etoile Violette I planted it with) and has medium sized white flowers that are rounded like yours appear to be. Of course, with what I consider to be the rampant mislabeling of clematis that I have experienced, for all I know, mine isn't Wada's at all.

Chelsie and Ophelia, welcome to the world of clematis mislabeling. I and others on this forum have purchased clematis many times that were mislabeled and didn't turn out to be what they claimed to be, this not only from Big Box stores but also from other reputable nurseries. You know what they say about not counting your chickens before they hatch. I guess the same is true about counting your clematis before they bloom! :)
