Congratulations Violetta! They both look pretty healthy to me. Especially the first one! I can't wait to see what the flowers look like. Make sure you post a picture.

I definitely need to get my new Florida Sieboldii planted in a larger container. I like how you yours separated up the trellis. I'm going to try and do that with mine.

Yay! Umm... anyone have any idea how long it might be?

Yeah yeah, I know. That whole patience thing. I've heard of it, but it's not one of my strong suits.

All I can say is time will tell. You can't fool Mother Nature nor second guess any plant, especially clematis.

I'm going to be looking at them and examining them closely every day until they bloom.

My neighbors probably think I'm nuts. I'm always out on my balcony peering closely at my many plants.

You are not nuts. I'm sure my neighbors think I am though. I am out there every day, prowling the yard with a camera.

At this time of the year, I am out there to water only. Too hot for much else unless you get up at 6am. Kind of hard to do when you work until 3am and typically don't go to bed until 4am. Last night it was 86 degrees when I got home right after 3am!

Okay, you folks are the only people who would appreciate the comedy of this, so I have to share...

Last night I was out on my balcony looking at the flower buds (there's more of them now! At least 10 or so!), peering at all my plants like I usually do, and my next door neighbor came out on her balcony and started talking to her tomato plant. "Come on little tomato! Get bigger so I CAN EAT YOU!"

We both noticed each other and fell down laughing at the same time.

At least you have a kindred spirit for a neighbor!! Best kind to have.

I can't believe how quickly it's grown! The best part, and I don't know if you can see it, but at the base of each stem that has a bud on it, TWO MORE buds are coming out. I had no idea clematis bloomed like this!

I hate patience.

Me too!! But I am learning it. Comes with age I think. I turn the big, to some people, 50 next month and last few years has taught me the virtues of patience.

So maybe sometime in the next 20 years I'll get better at it.

Hopefully my Palettes will be looking better by then. ;0)

I glanced up at my balcony as I was driving away this morning and saw a bright red flower with a yellow center smiling down on me. Can't wait to get home tonight and admire it!

There's only two flowers open... I figured I'd wait until the whole thing was a mass of blooms to post pics?

I definitely see what people mean about this not being a "true" red. It's much more like a fuchsia or a wine color to me. Sooo cute, though!

I'll be patient and wait for the pictures! LOL

I'm fairly pleased!

What surprises me is the range in number of petals I'm seeing so far. I thought that all the flowers would have 4 petals - that's what it looked like in pictures I'd seen, but that's not proving to be the case at all. Once these blooms open, I'm seeing anywhere from 4-7 petals on each flower. Is that odd?

Well the range of sepals seems somewhat wider than I have typically seen on other clematis but yours are young still so they might get more consistent as the plants mature. It is not uncommon in my garden to see 4, 5, or 6 sepals on a given flower on a given cultivar. Time will tell---AGAIN!!!

I just have to say, I had no idea what I was getting into when I bought my first clematis. I am so impressed and pleased that I have to talk about it. The clematis that had a couple of buds at the beginning of August now, almost two months later, has a ton of flowers with no sign of letting up anytime soon. I'm still seeing new buds coming out. I'm absolutely blown away. :0)

I didn't think that clematis bloomed this profusely until they were well established. How lovely it is to be wrong!
