What a great looking clematis. Might have to consider that as a new one. My favorite white is Henryi. Mine is now 12 ft tall and had loads of blooms this summer. It runs from the top of a basketball goal post (removed the goal part) on up into the dogwood tree behind it. Thanks for sharing. Love the color differation.

Green coloration on sepals is very common in the spring but I have also seen it in the heat of the summer (er Fall but who can tell).

Maybe I am an oddball but I kind of like that look :-) I think I would like to have a clematis that looks like this all the time.

Carol, I agree. I like the odd and unusual and the green coloration has never bothered me in the least.

It is my understanding that Arctic Queen is always double.

'Arctic Queen' always blooms in doubles. BorS is right.

Here is a weird blend of greenish petals and purplish leaves on 'Dr Ruppel'. Environmental reasons, I guess.

Actually, my Artic Queen doesn't always have double blooms. On the old wood, yes, double blooms. When cut back the blooms are "normally" semi double at best :-). I've had this clematis for years and it has always performed in this manner.

COTW says that the plant normally produces double blooms but that on new wood it may produce semidouble blooms.
