jade tree with artificial light?

I just bought an itty bitty little jade tree from a local plant store. I want to try to liven up my new itty bitty little office, only there's a problem: my office has no windows. The guy at the plant store said that the jade tree will do fine under fluorescent lights, but I have my doubts. I mean, I want to keep it smallish, and I can totally take it home over the weekends (even though I ride the bus!). I am willing to do this to avoid having one of those ugly ferns or (dare I say it?) ARTIFICIAL PLANTS in my office. I need real greenery! Anyone have any experience/advice with this issue? Thanks!
