    That's great!

We got a few sprinkles tonight and more showers are forecast over the next few days. The tropical storm activity off the coast is far more active than last year and that's usually how NC gets good rains. Hope that's all we get!

I hope folks down in Texas don't get too much rain and wind from the hurricane.

It really is exciting to get some rain when you haven't had any for a while! :-)

Overcast here today and yesterday. We got a few sprinkles, but not much. Too bad, the rain would have helped with the wildfires. It was chilly enough yesterday for me even to crave hot cocolate.

Chilly....well it has been 100 or over here every day. Back to sun today and very humid and hot.

I sure wish you all could get out from under the fires in the West. I hope they are not near you at all. c

Hey Caroline, nice to know I wasn't the only one awake at that hour! Your peaches, tomatoes and figs combination sounds interesting . . . but maybe a little too adventureous for my tastebuds! Do you spread it on crackers or what?

Tonight was the first cool night in a month. I made roasted vegetables for supper. Talk about a hodgepodge! I Threw in whatever I had in the house! But it was delish.
    Roasting certainly works magic.
We are having way too much rain with no end in sight. At least I don't have to water the garden!

Here's to a good night sleep for both of us.
    Cheers!

Uh I didn't specify very well did I about the recipes ~ ! I am sorry...I was looking for individual items featuring the fruit or veg...haha I am a mess in the middle of the night I guess.

Made brandied peaches and also fig preserves. I picked lots of summer apples tonight from my DS1 's tree and will make tomato and apple chutney tomorrow. Also I am making strawberry preserves and I found a wonderful sounding fig and lavender jam that I am going to make.

I don't sleep when I am worried about stuff...I have a son that is having lots of ongoing problems...many many years of sleepless nights.

Good to hear from you. I am glad it was cool for you. We just had another "po' down" as they say in the south so no hoses again tomorrow. Yeah...lots to can so would like cooler weather but they say no more rain and 90's...oh well. c

That tropical storm in Texas is supposed to wend its way up here within a couple of days. We're at .7" above normal rain. I planted creeping thyme and clover seeds yesterday. I hope the rain helps it along, rather than flattening young sprouts.

That storm in TX is right over my house! There have been 2 tornados touch down within 5 miles north and south of here.
We were sitting on the patio enjoying the rain. I saw a flash and yelled, "out of those chairs!!!!!". I did not think I could move that fast. We were sitting in medal chairs...duh. When the thunder clapped, the sheltie ran out to bark at it. Then she did not want to run back through the waterfall off the patio.

They are saying this is the last feeder band to reach here. It is near Del Rio, TX/Mexican border heading towards Lorna. Del Rio is spanish for of/on the river.

We had one whopper of a storm here Wed night. We got over 3" of rain. Lots of lightning around. I was in the garage with the side door open when a bolt of lighting hit very close to the house. I could feel the heat from it!!! DH and I both looked all around the yard and never could see where the lightning might have struck. Next morning my neighbor came over and told me she saw the lighting hit a pine tree in my other neighbors back yard. Sure enough, there is a long scar running all the way down the tree and pine bark scattered as far away as 10'.

We sure were lucky the tree didn't fall or catch on fire. Its a VERY big pine tree. We needed the rain but I can do without the light show.

Our track coach at AU , Coach Sprye lost his house to the lightening. His wife was lucky to get out of the house. It was definitely a bad storm. I am glad you were not injured in any way Vikki...that was a very close call. And you Kathy...please be careful in storms and stay safe.c
