I have a stand of established Autumn ferns that "burned" to the ground last year in the drought. Most of them came back, though they are much smaller this year than years past. I would wait until spring to see if thye pop up. In Alabama they take sun better than many ferns, but all day is tough for them here. Planting in June makes it an uphill battle. I would think long and hard before planting liriope, better be sure you want it forever!

If you want other suggestions, then tell a little bit about the area and what your goals were for planting there. Is it flat or a slope? Obviously full sun. How is the area used, what is around it? Are you looking for something to act as a "groundcover", something low growing? Sprinkler system or hand watering?
