Theory

I have a theory that if a seed were grown into a tree and that one-only branch was grafted and that only the current year-old wood were grafted with only one new-plant kept for stock-plant wood for the future graft, the following year that the wood will theoretically-age thus producing a cone at the relative date that a seed-grown tree of the same origin, would naturally produce its', first cone.

Any reason not to believe this... or are there more mechanics involved than I'm unable of knowing at this juncture?
