As the title says, is there any particular way I need to do it? or can I pretty much make a cut anywhere? Does where I make the cut affect where the new growth will/will not take place?

Also, one of my jades is growing straight up with pretty much no branches or leaves on the bottom half and it looks pretty awkward; if I cut it in half, would that encourage the remaining stump to generate some new growth??

Perhaps I should hold off until the upcoming spring??
