Exterior house color selection.

Hello. We are getting ready to paint our house and I need help with color selection. The house looks very plain and sad (Btw, the pics actually look much better than in person.)

Presently, the house is painted:
trim: white
shutters: brown
door: brown
roof: brown (can't change anytime soon)

Any suggestions. Also, we're not opposed to eliminating some or all of the shutters but haven't been brave enough to do so.

Thanks for reading and for any suggestions that you have to give my house a little facelift!

PLEASE do not paint the brick. Your house is beautiful. the roof is beautiful. the landscape is beautiful. I would paint the shutters black and the front door burgundy, and would leave the trim white. It is very classic and simple.

Nothing in Lyn's message suggests they are thinking about painting the brick (thank heavens), so I don't think we have to convince them of this. All they are asking is what trim and shutter and door colors to use in their repainting. Having said this, I have to say I think your home is beautiful and classic and doesn't need a new color scheme. But if you want some subtle changes then I agree with black for the shutters and either black or a more playful color for your front door (yellow? red? eggplant?). I think, however, that it would be a mistake to change the trim color. The ivory trim looks just right to me.

P.S. I'm a bit torn about the shutters. I think they are needed to frame the windows on the right side of the house, but on the far left side they do look a bit crowded. You have one window without shutters, so I'd be tempted to take some of the more crowded ones off, but then you'd have a house with shutters on the right and none on the left, which wouldn't look good. So I think it's probably best to keep them all. But I'll be curious whether others might come up with some different shutter suggestions.

The House looks nice but Doesn't Look Very Attractive , its the Brick , painting it a red will be Good idea.

Your house is beautiful, leave the shutters alone but if you want punch, you could pick a bright colour on the front door, burgundy is a little boring. How about painting all the white trim (columns, soffit and facia) black? . The landscaping lacks colour, deciduous trees, pernnials, flowers?
Your front steps are tiny. Consider redoing them 3 feet deep and raising the left landscaping to the height of each stair. This would give your guests room to stand when ringing the door bell.

Your house looks perfectly grand! I wouldn't change a thing. Except, maybe you could paint the front door a deep eggplant color for some pop. Beef up the front planter bed & add some color.. Do NOT paint the brick.. that would be a terrible mistake.
