poppies, allysum, euphorbia, cleome, and there must be more.

I am in zone 7, but if larkspur works for you, these also should.

I may give orlaya a try this Autumn. It would have been nice to have it bloom earlier.

My mom has a patch of Bells of Ireland that reseeds every year so I would recommend trying a fall planting of that. I believe it needs both cold stratification and light to germinate. Same thing with Alliums.

Teresa, you can try Bupleurum (Green Gold) in the fall as well. It is my absolute favorite filler. Super cold hardy and gets great stem length when fall sown. Also, Bachelors buttons can be fall sown. They will bloom early to mid-May depending.

Thank you Carin; that is great information. I like the fact that Bupleurum has long stems. I am really liking Orlaya (fabulous filler) but the stems are so short. I am hoping a Fall sowing of Orlaya will help with stem length.

I have bachelors' buttons now and they are my least favorite flower because harvesting is such a pain and they are so small! Sure wish someone would breed a larger flowered one.
