I often read here about succession sowing zinnias, sunflowers, Amazon dianthus and gladioli.

I know it doesn't work well for all things. I tried succession planting lisianthus last year and and it seems like the later sown plants still bloom about the same time but are just smaller.

This year I had most of my rudbeckia hirta, feverfew and china asters come into bloom all at once. Has anyone tried succession planting these flowers?
