Hi Marie,
Ligularia isn't listed as a cut in Allan Armitages, "Specialty Cut Flower" book, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't work. Just experiment with it. Make sure the flower has no smell, or at least a pleasant odor before cutting, and then check for vase life. I grow some myself and have also thought of trying it.

LOL Cheryl, zone 1b isn't really that bad. We console ourselves by saying we don't get hurricanes or tornadoes, but God help us if the power goes out in the winter!
Anyway, I went ahead and cut the 'Othello' flower head. It seems to be holding up quite well, except that it is continuing to open up and spread so what was quite a tight cluster it now quite loose. But it lasted the day of the flower show and it won me the best arrangement in the show, so worth the try.
