Dahlia plant height...will they get taller?

I planted about 40 dahlia tuber this year (all started in pots). The plants seems to be growing health, and I got my 1st bloom today. The plants are only about 16" tall. The description said 4 to 5 feet. Will they grow taller?
I did pinch them about a month ago.
