Planning backsplash tile and cabinet rehab

We're in the middle of a DIY reno of our 70's kitchen. We've redone the countertop with Giani countertop paint in a dark chocolate brown. It's very busy, so I was thinking of doing a more "solid" backsplash tile, about the same as the floor. The pictures aren't great. We were originally going to do just behind the stove and sink (I love my green kitchen), but because of various mistakes I made in the painting of the backsplash, I plan to just put a short amount of tiles along the entire backsplash. Right now we can't afford to paint the cabinets, but are thinking of going light, maybe an antiqued white? I hate the "country" doors, but the cabinets are custom and we can't afford all new ones. Any ideas?

The backsplacsh looks great but for a nice finished look - try switching out the faceplates to an almond finish the white takes away from the tile. Nice job.

I think there is too much of a contrast between the counter tops and the green of the wall. You would be better picking a tan to match the color in the counter.

The counter has several brown tones, including a light tone like the flooring. Here's a close up before I got the top coat on. The green isn't quite as glaring as it looks in the other photo, but it is quite a contrast, which is another reason for doing tile along the entire backsplash, but I wasn't planning on going all the way to the cabinets. I like the wall color under the cabinets for a pop of color. So...a more solid tile in the lighter color?

Maybe paint a lighter green on top of the green you have now...will give it depth, and not so "green in yer face". If still too stark, paint a 3rd green.
There are some awesome tiles that would match/go w/the flooring---a beige-y w/a bit of a warm brown in the cracks...I'd suggest starting w/a row of the thin (pencil)stick of tile, laid on top of the counter's back splash, then a row of 4x4 matching tile, then a row of 2x2 matching tile...or....try a few rows to see what you like.

Painting a white over this green will give a toned down effect .

Folks, I appreciate your input, but I LOVE the green! It's more like the close-up photo. That's why I was asking about tile. @debbie98569 We've found some really, really cheap at Menard's for labor day sale. it's 2x2 mosaic that is almost exactly like the floor tile. We're now thinking that, with some darker grout, like our floor? I'd love to do some accent tile, but I am afraid of it getting too busy.

If you love the green, your best bet is probably the antique what cabinets and some new fixtures. But the countertop color might have been too masculine for the fun green...

Wow! I'm surprised anyone has responded to this after all this time! We haven't gotten the cabinets painted, but here's what we have now. More to do.
