Thanks, Ken! We've bought from Collector's Nursery a couple of times and have visited their nursery in Battle Ground WA. Unfortunately at that time, we didn't see any, but didn't ask for Spring Ghost.

As you may know, Bill has retired and Diana hopes to re-open next year with a more specialized selection. We'll have to e-mail them and see if they have any left.

Here is a link that might be useful: Collector's Nursery

That would be tragic! The only clue we have is from their web site. My wife tried e-mailing them a few months back but received no answer.

Yes, I think Tony Avent said Bill passed away in his last PDN update a couple weeks ago.

being in WA .. you are within 100 miles of most of the biggest conifer producers in the country ... i would think you should be able to find it ... do you know where they are? .... maybe a new post will get you the answer ...

to put things in catalogs .... sellers need numerous pots to sell .. but they may have ones and twos .. that a visit might make available .... find them.. and call them ....

PS: unless you mean DC .. then you are out of luck.. lol ..

Back to your original answer, yes, the hunt is half the fun. We're just about 100 miles east of Seattle so most of the producers are a little further than that. However, the wife and I do make tours to hit the hot spots.

We first ran into Diane and Bill of Collector's Nursery at the Fonderosa, an annual get together of many of the small NW speciality nurseries held each August in Gold Bar, WA.

Later we were able to visit with them at their nursery in Battleground where Bill spent considerable time sharing his knowledge of conifers with me while my wife was attempting to get Diane to share some of her scarcer stock.

Unfortunately, Bill must have been winding down because I believe we came home with only a single item my wife had talked Diane into selling.

if you review their website .. they are closed for mail order .. but open for local sales...

if you are friends.. you might get a visit ...

perhaps a call to Diana will get you in..

    good luck
