Just moved, possible berry bush?

We just moved and there is a bush that is growing at the bottom of an evergreen. It's very large and was thinking of cutting it down or back significantly but noticed berry-like buds on the bush. I have no clue what they are or if they are even edible. Does anyone recognize them? Thank you for your help!
