Comments (82)Roo/Eztia - Totally relate to the "nice little lamp shops" problem!! While my lamps all look fine, the shades look their age .. but I was totally unable to replace them, when I went to all the large lamp stores I could find within 25 miles! Lamp stores used to have a large selection of alternate/replacement shades .. but now they don't bother carrying them. The basic shapes & materials have also changed too, so even though I know the size of my shades, it's not so easy to buy something online, and frankly I hate adding a $10 shipping charge on a $20 or $30 item! Last time I went to the store with the shades in the car, but the largest lamp store said I should have brought the actual lamps .. really .. wrap 5 or 6 lamps up & haul them all over the county?! And then they said they were changing their shade contract, and had almost nothing in stock....See MoreOLLD 4/29
Comments (207)Good grief what a lot of chatter today - unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) half of it is over my head, except for your approval of our fabulous Aussie Actors. What about Simon Baker? Something about him has my timeclock trying to reverse. Hate hearing about all your fabulous shops, wish we had half of them. I'm sure I would be totally dangerous in Pottery Barn. Kimdee, your drapes are lovely, I don't think it is quite a true damask but near enough for me, I love that look. It has all come up looking like shades of aubergine on my screen. Your whole rooms look fantastic, love the dog too, but do particularly love that fireplace nook in your bedroom, what a great idea. We have The Voice happening here at the moment too, our judges are Seal (God he is sexy), Joel Madden (cracks me up all the time, he is such an idiot), Delta Goodrem (who the gossips say is on with Seal) and Ricky Martin (such a genuinely decent sounding guy). Watch bits of it from time to time, but I get bored sitting through it night after night. I generally wait till the grand finale and just watch that. Ez, I wonder if they can concrete in the gaps in the stone of your ramp. Sounds a fairly simple and inexpensive exercise. I can imagine the bumping though .......... definitely not comfortable. Astraea, thanks for the link to my photo - I thanked them for using it. Heehee. Just stopped for a late lunch, been sewing all morning, so must get back to it. Comments (447)Oh heck - ALL of it!!! That won't be cheap. Any of it covered by insurance?? Hope it doesn't cause any further damage for you but definitely not safe to do anything like your kitchen until things are secure. So - are you posting threads for your bathroom, nook and hallway? Probably best to do one for each when we sidetrack so much and allow room for others to join in. Just post the links here so we know....See MoreHelp me decide on additional plants/flowers for my backyard landscapin
Comments (85)Thanks so much everyone!! I appreciate the kind words. I'm am very happy. I am thinking about adding one additional thing to my plantings, swamp milkweed. Does anyone have recommendations for where to plant & if just one plant is ok? I am thinking I can plant in the fence either between grass & spruce or between 2 grasses along the border. I want to provide the necessary food for butterflies (monarchs)....See Morehemnancy
