As always, great photo...is there anything you're not good at Nate?

PS Hope the Colorado fires weren't/aren't in your neighborhood!

    Thanks Dax, TJ, and Barbara.

Barbara, my neighborhood is not close to the forests, so much less fire danger here. Thanks for the thought. The fires have caused a lot of damage, particularly in the mountains.

These pictures of 'Extra Blue' conelets are extra cool!

Please do keep the updates coming.

What's the fuzz around the conelets?

    Alex

Thanks Alex. The fuzz is from neighboring cottonwood trees.

    Another update.

    Sluice,

As always I enjoy your posts. This is one of the best.

    Speaking of forest fires....

I think as of today there are over 40 forest fires going on right now in the western states and Alaska.

A couple weeks ago I read and article that Al Queda had plans to start forest fires in the US. A plan to kill the valuable forest industry. The plan was found in captured documents in the Bin Laden Raid.

Perhaps we can discuss in another post in order to keep this post clean of any other subject matter.

    Thanks Dave.

I was in the mountains today (elev. 10K ft; 3K m) and saw this P. flexilis conelet. Enjoy!

Hope they develop into mature cones this year!

Probably close to full size now, though still a long way short of mature of course. How long are they?

    Resin

    Resin,
There are four cones. Three approx. 12 cm and one approx. 13 cm.

    Thanks!

They might get a bit longer yet then.
