I'm growing a KIWAI, which I believe is either Actinidia arguta or a hybrid of arguta and something else. I got the plant from Graines Baumaux in France.
It's supposed to be self-fertile, but I've had it planted for two years. This year was the first time it flowered (in May, much later than the kiwi) and it had a lot of baby fruit, all of which fell off in June without ripening. One fruit only survived and this never grew bigger than a blackcurrant, and fell off in late summer.
The plant has made a lot of growth this summer (now about six feet high with multiple stems) so I'm hoping it will produce and successfully set enough fruit next year to be useful. Just how big the fruit should be I don't know, but I hope bigger than a blackcurrant. My plant arrived at about ten inches high and has taken two years to flower, so from seed it will probably take three years I'm guessing.
This doesn't have the same hairy leaves and stems as the kiwi, but heart shaped leaves and smoother stems.

Notice closely, the serrated edges on first true leaves. The fist set are slightly elongated. These are about two weeks old, and slow to start, I think because soil was too heavy. They are now older and transplanted into a higher peat-content soil, and doing much better. They are growing faster now. These are arguta, also from Tradewinds.
