My friend's camellia sinenis was past flowering when I saw it. In fact, it had a bunch of seed pods, most of which had opened and lost whatever was in there. However, in one, I did see one normal looking seed (a bit smaller than a tomato seed). But in several others, there was what looked like a small nut. I cracked one open, and indeed, there was a nut inside! It was about the size of a single peanut nut. I had not known this plant made nuts. Are these edible?? Thanks!
