Glad to hear that someone else values the simple clover!

I would think that a pound of seed would go pretty far - unless you want totally uniform coverage in one season. I am letting clover naturalize into my lawn to keep it green during drought. Individual plants will spread a bit...and reseed if you let flower heads brown in place before mowing, then keep lightly moist to aid germination.

When I find a freebie variety of Clover / Oxalis / Wood Sorrel growing somewhere unexpected, I often tuck it into another space where I want it and water - they often take and help keep bare areas looking lush as they add nitrogen to the soil. Anyone else do this? Red Clover is so pretty - and I have not found it invasive.

Consider mixing your seed with sand, peat or compost to make it easier to spread. If amending an existing grass lawn, soften soil, and seed bare spots and freshly weeded areas first, to be sure you will have clover fill in there.
