Ideas?

A flowerhead (I'm assuming that's what it is!) Came in an mix from GN.

Is this a purple leafed sandcherry or something more spectacular? I found it growing as a seedling in my flowerbed last year & moved it to a pot. It is growing in leaps and bounds and starting to scare me a bit!

And last, is this varigated or sick? I think it's a penstomen of some sort... poor thing is living in the shadow of a mammoth Shasta Daisy... Everything around it looks fine so I don't think it's a deficiency in the soil of any kind.
