sweet potatoes

I have a piece of sweet potato producing slips and want to try growing them. I'm thinking I can plant them in a wash tub and get a June start. However, the posts I've found about growing them suggest I harvest when the temperatures get down to 50F. With that limitation I will have about 60 of the 90-120 days they need to grow.

Has anyone grown these in anything close to Zone 3a?

Cut the slips off now and pot them up. Water well and keep them in a bright window. You may need to pot them on later, depending on the frost dates. They are very frost sensitive. And hope for a great summer.

I got a few, a couple of years back. But lately the summer are not cooperating.
